Find out how we are finding homes for children in London

Lilian Brown shares updates, encouragements, and prayer points related to Home for Good’s work across London.

Sharing a new vision

Following the merger of Safe Families and Home for Good in September 2024, we are still undergoing several changes to enhance the offer and strengthen our collective vision. Excitingly this has led to the development of a new vision and the refining of our core areas of mission. We hope you share our excitement around what the Lord will do through this.

Our vision

‘Together, we hope for a society where no family feels alone, and every child has a home where they can flourish. We believe the Church is central to this vision’

Our mission

  1. Empowering and supporting parents, carers, hosts, as together we build positive connections and relationships so children and families can flourish.
  2. Inspiring and equipping churches as they create communities of care, hospitality and belonging.
  3. Influencing systemic change for children and families, which amplifies their voices, offers hope and promotes a loving and just society.

In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to share updates within the local teams. This will include sharing team updates (new roles and support based on geographical areas) as well as how we support and work alongside you, as our valued volunteers.

What new partners are you working with?

We are grateful to the Lord for connecting us with several new churches across London one in Sidcup, Hanwell, Edmonton, a few in Barnet and in Hammersmith and Fulham. We are also connecting in with Sobus, so excited to see how we can see families thrive within their local communities. It is an answer to prayer and such a blessing to see the heart and passion of individuals and leaders who are committed to supporting children and families in various ways.

We are grateful to the Lord as we are seeing progress on sharing what we do on a local level. We are continually considering creative ways to share the vision. If you would be interested in sharing literature in the groups, unions, bible studies and local community establishments you attend please get in touch here.

Other activity & stories

We are so excited to hear news of a new family coming together and are excited to have been invited to celebrate with them and their loved ones. Home for Good are honoured to be invited to have a stand and share the need and vision to this family’s community.

    Events and Stands

They say if you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything. At Home for Good we have been standing (or sometimes sitting) at a few events recently! If you want to stand or sit with us at upcoming events this Spring and Summer to inspire others to join you in making a difference to children and families please get in touch with Lilian. People are always curious about fostering, adoption and supported lodgings and love hearing insights from lived experience. We would appreciate you joining us!

    London Mission Expo

We exhibited at London Mission Expo in partnership with London Project and Share Jesus International in preparation for the upcoming London Mission Week in June. We were so excited to see the work churches and organisations are doing to serve their local communities. We are building awareness locally and determined to expand and share the vision more widely. Together, we hope for a society where no family feels alone, and every child has a home where they can flourish.

Intercultural City and Church Transformation Gathering 2025

What an insightful and informative day! Tarn, our Co-CEO, participated as a panellist, highlighting how factors beyond young people's control - such as their age, disability, or skin colour - can sometimes unintentionally or overtly affect their experiences and outcomes in care. This is a crucial conversation, and the conference provided a valuable space to continue the dialogue with leaders. We were encouraged to meet people eager to get involved, including a 27-year-old woman exploring how to become a backup carer but struggling to find advice. It’s inspiring to see younger generations and people from diverse backgrounds recognizing the need and stepping up, even amidst their busy lives.

Can you spot some of the team in the picture?

The discussions from the panellist were insightful and thought-provoking. Panellist, Damilola Makinde reflected “we learnt there is so much more to learn”. I certainly resonate with this, as a team we are so grateful to be learning with you. We can only share stories and the positive impact at events because of you. We thank the Lord for all you do. It is the work you do as individuals, families and churches to bring community to those who need it most that is bringing transformation to our communities.

We have had the chance to connect with Croydon Churches Forum, 133 group, Southwark for Jesus and C4T meetings which are amazing initiatives across the churches and local organisations South London boroughs that have a heart for the gospel and community. We have continually prayed and shared the need for support for children in care and our work in Safe Families alongside other pertinent issues for the community. We have met numerous leaders with a passion for supporting and seeing a difference in the lives of local families and together we will work to making a difference.

If you are part of a church network that is not yet connected with Home for Good London please let me know. Are there areas of additional support your church or community might need that we could connect you in with? We are keen to connect into various networks as we know we can only achieve the individual goals and visions we have been given, together!
