Find out how we are finding homes for children in London

Victoria Perry share updates, encouragement and prayer points related to Home for Good’s work across London.

It has been a joy to lead Home for Good’s work with churches and volunteers across London for the last four months. With dedicated staff resourcing for London specifically, rather than London and the South East as previously, we’ve been encouraged by the new London specific opportunities to expand our work.

Engaging with churches

I have been engaging with churches in the Croydon, Merton, and Sutton area to support our commissioner agreement with withCapstone Fostering. We also have a new commissioned agreement with Barnet starting in March focused on fostering and support lodgings and are excited to meet Christians and churches in this area. I am also working hard to re-engage with some of our existing London churches and volunteers.

We are happy that a church in Sidcup recently signed up to journey with us as a Home for Good Church. We are excited about this three-year partnership as we explore how the church can play a more active role in finding and sustaining homes for children and young people.

We’ve recently had two Sunday speaking engagements in London, sharing the gospel of being Christ-like and imitating His Image of being a defender to the defenceless. We would love to encourage you to book a Home for Good speaker for your church – it is a great way to inform and inspire your church community.

London Volunteers

It’s been exciting to see some growth in the network of Home for Good volunteers in London. We’ve recently had four people register to volunteer – helping to champion Home for Good in their churches and communities, providing encouragement and support to others on the journey. We now have 30 volunteers in London, but we’d love to see some more people joining the team. You can find out more by visiting the volunteering pages of our website or by getting in touch with Victoria.

The Briefing

Victoria attended The London Mission Collective: The Briefing – an event that helps leaders explore what is happening across the capital. This provided a great opportunity for us to share how Home for Good and Safe Families are partnering in an exciting new way in London. Our CEO, Tarn and our Safe Families London Partnership Lead, Nick shared something of this joint vision to see the continuum of support needs met forchildren in our City.

What can I be praying for?

We would love you to stand with us in prayer as we continue to work to find a home for every child who needs one in London.

  • Pray for new opportunities to connect with individuals through speaking engagements across the city.
  • Give thanks and pray for our new volunteers as they begin this journey with Home for Good. May God grant them vision and support to inspire and support others.
  • Pray that God would inspire more individuals and couples to explore opening their homes through fostering, adoption, or supported lodgings.
  • We have had a good response for our London partnership with Safe Families, from our joint speaking engagements in London. Pray for Victoria and the team as they lead this work across London. Pray that God will give Victoria and the team vision, opportunities, and they would be a source of hope and blessing.

Check out our prayer resource, Let’s pray, for additional thoughts, inspiration and points to guide your prayers.
