Because young people deserve better

>

Home for Good is calling on the new government to end the use of boats, caravans and B&Bs for teenagers in care.

>

During the General Election 2019 campaign, Home for Good launched an open letter calling on the new government to end the use of inappropriate accommodation such as B&Bs, bedsits, caravan parks and canal-boats.

Our latest update - January 2020

In November 2019, together with Home for Good, Baroness Sherlock kindly hosted a gathering in the House of Lords whereby a group of experts – including care-experienced advocates – met and discussed ways to end the use of inappropriate accommodation for children in care. Through our learning from this event and following consultation with many others, we have produced an interim report as part of the Five Star campaign which makes recommendations to the Government.

The Bishop of Truro, the Right Revd Philip Mountstephen said, “The mark of a compassionate society must be how well we treat our most vulnerable, young people included. On that measure we are sadly failing.’”
