More Than Sundays: Breaking Down Barriers to Opportunity

Watch the Launch Video

We’re excited to share More Than Sundays: Breaking down barriers to opportunity – a bold vision for how churches across the UK are stepping up to support children and families facing poverty, isolation, and trauma. Instead of a live webinar, we’ve created a short, pre-recorded video that you can watch at your convenience. It features inspiring stories, contributions from government ministers, and a clear path forward for change.

About the report

More Than Sundays is a collaborative report from the Children and Families Alliance – Safe Families, Kids Matter, and Transforming Lives for Good – showing how the Church is already delivering vital care and support for children and families, and why it’s ready to do even more.

Through a network of nearly 7,000 volunteers, our work has:

  • Supported 33,000 children and 12,000 families
  • Equipped over 1,800 carers
  • Delivered life-changing support in homes, schools, prisons, and communities

The report makes the case for Government to partner with faith-based organisations as part of its Opportunity Mission – recognising that the Church is not just a Sunday gathering, but a daily force for good.

Why It Matters

Right now:

  • Over 100,000 children are in care
  • 1 in 6 children has a mental health challenge
  • 4.5 million children live in poverty

These challenges are complex, but not insurmountable. Churches across the UK are responding — with scale, with heart, and with hope.

"There will be no decade of national renewal without the active participation of the Church."– Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister

Together, we can build a future where no child is left behind - and where every family has the opportunity to flourish.
