Why we recommend Adoption Matters

Established in 1947, Adoption Matters are a dedicated adoption agency and registered children’s charity with 77 years’ experience of placing children with adoptive families and offering ongoing support. Having been at the forefront of innovation in adoption development, they are now one of the largest independent voluntary agencies in the UK.
Adoption Matters is the ONLY voluntary adoption service in the North of England to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted 5 times in a row, retaining this rating since 2008. In their last inspection, Adoption Matters were found to provide “highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good” and “contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people.” The report also highlights that "staff are passionate about their work and committed to providing the best service".
Adoption Matters have a rich faith heritage. Emanating from faith-based adoption agencies, Adoption Matters has strong links with many Dioceses across the country and their Presidents include The Rt. Revd. Mark Tanner, Bishop of Chester, The Rt. Revd. Phillip North and The Rt. Revd. Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham. As an organisation, they truly value the contribution that faith and faith communities can make, helping to ensure that children are welcomed into safe, loving and supportive homes.
